How To Change Your Mindset

Yesterday’s post featured one of my first fianncial teachers. I have not been able to meet him as of yet, however I see him as one of my mentors.

Robert Kyosaki, the author of Rich Dad Poor Dad, explains a lot about mind set. And how your mindset decides what you do for money, where you spend that money, and how you “save” that money.

Quick example: an educated college graduate has a secure job as an engineer. Making a good yearly salary with perks and all that fun stuff. This individual knows nothing of what to do with money other than spend it, or save it. He ends up living paycheck to paycheck. As do many Americans.

A richer fellow, containing no college education what so ever, owns three separate businesses and all are partnered together in affiliations. He also owns several real estate properties, among 3 other streams of income through online social media. Making millions of dollars in profit a year.

What’s the difference here??

  • Lack of education about money and finances
  • Multiple streams of income vs. One stream of income
  • Real estate investing
  • Social media influencing

All leading to the Poor mindset vs. a Rich mindset

Your mind is your strongest asset

Early 1900’s, the U.S. schooling system was founded by the original elites. Deciding what children would learn, and not learn! Money and finances was hardly ever a necessary subject to know…

As time went on, so did the realization of money not being taught in schools. Counties begin to start their own programs for Economics 101. As far as I know, I do not know of any schools that actually teach the real world of money.

To change your mindset, you must realize some things about yourself. One may be your current work ethics, financial beliefs, parental advice, and self-advice.

For many people, their minds can be their biggest enemy. No matter how hard you may try, negativity can creep back into your train of thoughts so easily if you let it. For a long time, I was controlled by my anxiety and fear of rejection.

With time and consistent practice, I have gotten to a point where I can confidently look at someone in the eye and understand what they are saying, feeling, and what they’re actually trying to say or mean.

Knowing the corect subjects when it comes to you and your future, should be researched and practiced. Without a doubt, I need you to see that failure is not an endpoint. It is there to be taken as a lesson and a reminder to never make that same mistake again. Unless you really need to be reminded again…

As simple as it may sound, changing your mindset should be seen as a goal, habit, or hobby. No matter what anybody tells you or no matter how much they disagree, focus on what you think is best for you and your future!!
